Steve Earle -- American Hero

Some Alaskans are apparently protesting Steve's Earle's scheduled performance at the Southeast Alaska State Fair next month, citing his "un-American or Marxist overtones" (I guess they haven't decided which).

When I saw him play this spring in Boulder's Fox Theater, after being a fan for a while without having had a chance to see him live, he was inspiring. Among other things, he said:

"I stand before you a fool who believes that music can change the world."

He also said,

"You can't stop a war by listening to music. Every one of us must sing."
